Is This The Most Expensive Piece Of Lego?

Saturday, 01 December 2012

This brick is 25.65g of 14K gold. The brick is the same size and shape as the original 2x4 LEGO brick.

This incedibly rare piece was given to LEGO employees that had 25 years of employement at the Hohenwestedt, Germany factory and was also given to couple of very special business partners of LEGO of the time. It was only given out from about 1979-1981, only one or 2 per year from my understanding.

Brick Envy, an online store dedicated to collector Lego sets, has got its hands on an ultra rare 2x4 gold piece of the popular toy and is flogging it for the mere price of $14,449 or nearly IDR 140 millions.

Given an ounce of gold is currently worth around $1,700, buyers are paying for the rarity of the shiny toy.

The amazing item comes in its original display box, which features the Lego logo from the time it was given out.
